Tinnitus & Hyperacusis Evaluations / Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT)

Tinnitus is the medical term for the perception of sound when no external sound is present. It is often referred to as “ringing in the ears”, although some people hear hissing, roaring, whistling, chirping, or clicking. Hyperacusis is a reduced tolerance to normal environmental sounds and is a fairly rare auditory disorder. Our assessments and resulting recommendations/therapies can help significantly reduce the negative effects of tinnitus or hyperacusis on your daily life.

Auditory Processing Assessments

Auditory processing is a key element in a person’s ability to communicate with the world. An individual with auditory processing problems has difficulties in the reception and interpretation of auditory information—primarily speech—in the absence of hearing loss. Auditory Processing difficulties can adversely affect an individual’s ability to learn and to succeed in a conventional classroom, typical employment setting, or social settings without appropriate intervention and (re)habilitation. Reading comprehension and spelling require strong auditory processing skills. Our individualized recommendations are beneficial in school or employment settings.

Repair of Hearing Instruments

Repair of all makes of hearing instruments are done at the clinic or at the manufacturer’s Canadian labs. We will do our best to repair in-clinic when possible.

Custom Hearing Protection

Custom hearing protection is available. Unique solutions for needs ranging from those required by musicians to needs required in heavy industry are provided. Whether you are exposed to noise resulting from jack hammer use, from the melody of a flute, or from hard rock music, we have solutions for you.

Swim Plugs

Custom molded swim plugs help to keep water out of the ear when swimming or bathing. They are an excellent protection choice for those who are bothered by the sensation of water in the ear canal or for clients with surgically implanted tubes in the ear drum.

Communication Molds

Whether you are a police officer, security officer, pilot, or someone who needs to listen to a two-way communication device, we have various custom communication molds available for increased comfort and safety.

Musician’s Molds

Musician's Earplugs are designed to match the ears natural response, while decreasing the loudness of sound. The result is that music and speech can still be heard clearly, but quieter.

Batteries

All hearing instruments require a battery as a power source. Soundwave Hearing Care provides only the highest quality batteries so you get the longest life from each battery cell.
